Don’t Toss Those Oranges π Turn Them Into These Easy Homemade Popsicles
π Homemade Orange Popsicles (A Simple Way to Reduce Food Waste)
πAs an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.Have you ever looked at fruit on your counter and thought… “I should probably use that today, or it’s getting tossed.”?
That was me with a bunch of oranges the other day.
They weren’t bad, but they were definitely past the point where anyone in the house was reaching for them. Instead of letting them go to waste, I turned them into something better:
Homemade orange popsicles π
And honestly? They came out really good!
πΏ Why This Matters
This is what realistic, everyday homesteading looks like.
It’s not always chickens, gardens, and big projects. Sometimes it’s just:
Using what you already have
Saving food before it goes bad
Getting a little creative in the kitchen
Those oranges could’ve easily ended up in the trash. Instead, they turned into a refreshing, kid-friendly snack with zero waste.

π‘ Easy Ways to Reduce Food Waste at Home
If you’re trying to waste less food, start small:
Overripe fruit → smoothies, popsicles, or baking
Soft veggies → soups, stir-fries, or broth
Herbs → dry them or freeze them
Leftovers → turn them into something new instead of reheating the same thing
You don’t need a perfect system, just a habit of pausing before throwing something away.
π Final Thoughts
These oranges were one day away from being thrown out…
Now they’re one of our favorite snacks.
That’s the kind of “homesteading” I love; simple, practical, and actually doable in everyday life.
π Save This For Later
If you try this, save it for later or share it with someone trying to waste less food!
